As for another game? why? SE is so deep and wide it is always a new game.

Just a long shot.
Are there any "upgradable bios" on your system?
Some years ago there were viruses that could hide in an updatable chip.
The most common was on video and network cards.
Install new hard drive and Poof, they reinfect it.
