Most popular AI techs
OK, Rags' comment on my AI modder thread has just got me thinking.
Of all the fan-created races, I can think of loads which take organic tech, quite a lot of psychics and a few that take religious or temporal. I can't think of a single fan created crystalline race. Can anyone prove me wrong?
Actually, it would be interesting to use this thread to get some statistics: If you have created and released an AI (not counting an improved AI for one of the stock races), please fill out the following form for each race and post it here:
code:
*******************
* *
* Race name: *
* AI by: *
* Organic [ ] *
* Temporal [ ] *
* Religious [ ] *
* Crystalline [ ] *
* Psychic [ ] *
* None [ ] *
* Modded Tech [ ] *
* *
*******************
I can't be bothered to include propulsion experts, natural merchants etc.
When posting dies down I'll count up all the results and see which of the racial techs is most popular. I'm betting a round of drinks in the cantina that organic comes out a long way on top.

Re: Most popular AI techs
most common, in order:
1. Organic
2. Psychic
3. Religious
AI's hardly use temporal. people consider crystallurgy to be too much of disadvantage and only put it into organic/crystallurgy combo.

Taera: How do you know that? Have you counted them up?

There are some. Tholians for example.

There are some. Tholians for example. Heh, I hope someone updated that AI. The Tholian AI I included in the original Trek Mod was just a Cryslonite AI with the descriptive lines changed in the AI_General file. Nothing very original.

Re: Most popular AI techs
Dogscoff - i have a very selective race choosing, and i always try to include one of each racial trait for the computer to use in my SP games.
I can say, those two words that dont go together:
crystalline, good
temporal, a lot
so far i've only seen three to four custom races using temporal. as well only the original Sallega use temporal and their AI had never been updated.

Re: Most popular AI techs
The Piundon Empire (done by Tampa Gamer and included into the TDM), it's probably the best Cristallurgy AI race.
Also, I remember the Version of the Phong Empire, that did "Q". A very good race too.
About Temporal, think the Namovans and Pyrochette are good chioces.

Re: Most popular AI techs
The Tylmai (available at Universal Shipyards and on the Gold CD) has a Crystaline AI that I put together. I don't know how good it really is, as I put it together quickly, but it should work.

FYI: The original Xiati also use temporal tech. I think the only original Religious race is the Norak.

Re: Most popular AI techs
@Taera,
I'm just doing my final play tests on a modded AI for the Sallega! (and Toltayan).
Must admit that Religious, Psychic and Organic seem to me to be the most interesting and challenging. Crystalline isnt bad. Temporal doesnt seem to be that brilliant.
Regards,
GE
