Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
Early game, no doubt LC is best. Combination of 10% defensive bonus, first weapon size jump, and CHEAP to build.
I hear a lot about BC's (and I see a lot) but I have never liked them. If you're playing against me, you'll see them only because I'm building a few while working on BB tech. After I get BB tech, you'll hardly see one built again.

Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
i hate to say it, but the bigger the better...
the only time i use smaller hull sizes is when i havent had enough time to research the big ones yet
weapon mounts are key, efficiencies of scale and all that, massive mount > heavy > large > normal

Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
I tend to feel the bigger the better, but I've noticed the AI is in love with the LCs. Everytime I look around I see a fleet of a dozen or more.

Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
All right who are the jokers who voted "Baseship" for "early/mid game"?

Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
I like battleships. Big enough to hold all the cool gadgetry and pack a powerful punch, and less time to build than dreadnaughts. I like to build all different kinds of battleships with different weapons configurations. Also great for mobile shipyards and large repair ships.

Re: Favorite Ship Size Poll
Speed is often more important than size, actually. If you can outrange the enemy's larger ships, their extra damage does not matter.

This is very comforting, for I am an impatient man, and tend to cram as many engines on my ships as possible. This is one reason why I love QNP - I can squeeze approx. 14 move on scout escorts with starting engines! Nothing like those to find out about your local space NOW.
