What, high school English not subjecting you to him anymore? Meh. Hard to decide if that's good or bad.
He's more than just some guy who worked for the gov't and recorded his extramarital liasons. For example, once a gorrila was on view in 1640's London. He went to see it and recorded how humanlike it was -- the only thing it lacked was speech. IMHO, Sam Pepys was really a renassiance man. A guy with wide tastes, intrests, and still practical.

I believe he was also around to record the great fire of London and maybe the plague. I find it a really interesting insight into the way ppl lived back then.
