The attempt would be to create a WP that can only be built on a site with RW size storage capacity (32,000 - 64,000 cargo).

Problem: if you took a Small planet and slapped 10 Storage Facility IIIs onto it, it'd suddenly have 30kt+ storage, and could thus get the Mega Kill-o-Zap Stellar Laser Thingy...

True. That's what I meant by dedicating the entire planetary surface to the construction of one weapon system. I mean, you could, but then the planet would be about useless for anything else. It would be one hell of a planet to crack, but why would you bother. It's only got the one thing on it. One huge mother of a gas laser.

However, the idea is probably open to abuse, I'd agree.

Cheers.

man, what we really need to do is make the huge weapon that takes up an entire world and can bLast things from sectors away, then put a warp point generator in front of it to let it destroy things all over the quadrant. make the star-destroying-cannon and detonate solar systems from remote.

oh yeah, its the cheese.

How about a weapon that destroys the galaxy slowly from the center out. It takes hundreds of turns and you have to fight your way through the systems as your home systems are destroyed one after the other. .

Yes, well, this wouldn't be any fun unless (until?) we get true Base Ships that will allow for populations to grow, etc. Then as the terrified Centerist Cosmic Arc fleets flee the collapsing galactic center, the Rim "civilizations" who started the whole thing can dispatch hunter armadas to harry and slaughter them on the fly...

Or have the facility to mount enourmous sub-light drives on our planets and fly them off in a rosetta pattern.

When the bug fixing starts to settle down, we'll have to press for more cool "features" like a weapon facility with some unique power -- maybe the ability to fire on the strategic map at targets in another sector? [/b]

Ohhh Yeah! What this game needs is a really BIG gun. How about this:
- Ring Worlds (RW) and Sphere Worlds (SW) can fire huge bolts of energy. (How does the energy get out of the SW? (Shut up!))
- It hits and destroys a sector and it's contents, leaving behind a cooked planet or a new storm.
- There would have to be some kind of recharge interval.
- Maybe a SW can shoot at targets in another system?
- The energy can't travel thru a warp gate, but it does travel at light speed. It reaches an adjacent system in X years (X=distance in light years.)
- A looong distance shot always hits some sector in the targetted system. The chance of hitting the targetted sector is an inverse function of distance.
- Planetary/System shields can provide protection.
