System wide facilities
I didnt see this while looking in the FAQ thread.
I went to make an Event Predictor and got a message that I allready had a system wide facility like it. I thought each solar system was seperate, not my whole empire.
Are there some facilities that are only solar system wide and then empire wide?

Re: System wide facilities
The events predictor provides a combat bonus to the system.
The game is telling you somewhere in that system you have a facility that also provides a combat bonus. (Only the larger of the two will be used)
Check any moons for a forgotten predictor, or perhaps a war shrine.

Re: System wide facilities
Ok, some definitions:
sector: 1 square in the system
system: the screen on the left. All planets in the system have the same name followed by a roman numeral, and letter for moons. If you click on one system on the lower right hand galaxy map, you then have that system shown in the large left hand side pane.
Next, it is in the FAQ:
4.3.9 When a facility has "only one per system/planet effective", it refers to the ability of the facility, not to that specific facility. Eg: A System Robotoid Factory III and a System Mineral Scanner III do not stack, because they use the same ability (to affect minerals production). (Imperator Fyron)
Next, the message you get is because you already have a facility with that system ability, not necessarily the same facility, and also, not necessarily the same effectiveness.

Re: System wide facilities
The warnings are not based off of facility type, but ability type instead. They should be more descriptive though.
If you have an Urban Pacification Center in the system and add a Medical Lab (organic races) to the queue, you get an error because they both use the system happiness abilities. But, building the Medical Lab is still worth building because of the other abilities. This is why the error message should tell you what overlapping abilities are present, but unfortunately doesn't.
Edit:
Wow, beat by a second with a post that quotes me. Oh, the irony.

I think that you do not get the error if you add a facility with a higher value for the ability. Build a Medical Lab. It gives 1% happiness. I do not think the game complains if you add an Urban Pacification Center II or III, because it gives a higher bonus. I may be wrong though, I haven't tested it in a while.

You do get the error, just happened to me yesterday. Happens any time you duplicate a system-wide ability.

Re: System wide facilities
DOH!!! I hadn't even looked for over lapping abilities, and yea I had a War Shrine in that system. Guess i will look back through all my planets.
Anyone know why I dont get a message if I try to make more than 1 Nature Shrine in a system?
Thanks everyone for the help.

Re: System wide facilities
That is a good question. It even lead to a discussion if nature shrines are cumulative - answer NO. But indeed for some reason the duplication of Nature shrines does not give warnings.
