By using a combination of the "only x" damage types, and differing hitpoints /shield points per ship.
I forget the details, but for example:
One object has 50 hitpoints and no shields.
It can be killed by the next guy with 10k shields, 48 hitpoints, MC ability, and a 50 damage regular weapon.
This one can be killed by the third, which has a 48-damage computer-virus weapon, 10k shields, 46 hitpoints.
This third is killed by the first, which has a 46 damage shield disruptor.
