I'm working with bryce, but the trouble is all that work will be lost for SE V, because bryce can't export its files."

And even if it did, the polygon count would be way, way too high- the ships made would make the game very choppy.

Most of the polycounts in StarFury ships are between 200-500, with a few close to a 1000. Performance descreases with uses models with over 1000, especially on lower end systems.

I know it's fat to much for SE V to manage (it asks about 15 minutes to my computer to render a single image). I must find a way to make my shipset more simple, if I want to see them running on SE V on day.

Ragnarok, Raging deathstar : hold on, there's still lots of work to be done. You can preview the work done until now on the starship page, if you like. (a few ships made during the Last days).

It looks like your going to have to go to low poly models, with all of the detailing in the 'skin' for the next Version. right now, I'm working on making rough models with Doga and exporting them to dxf files, then using crossroads to convert them to either 3ds or obj files, opening them in anim8or, using UVmapper to make a single bmp map of the model surfaces, painting the bmp file using 3d images made with POV-ray, then going back to anim8or to put the new 'skin' on the model, exporting as a 3ds model, and then converting the 3ds model into a direct3d x file. (actually sounds worse than it is, the Doga model only takes about 10 - 15 minutes, with anouther 30 minutes to clean it up in anim8or, and the 3d POV images are just textured 'hull plates', or detailed areas that I can splice together and reuse - same POV model with different texture/material, if I need something fancier, I can again use Doga, export, and then convert into a POV format).

Something worthwile to look into if you are interested in making models for Starfury, and probably SEV, is creating models for Star Fleet Command, they seem fairly similar, and there is a lot of information on creating Star Fleet Command models (and a lot of models that could be imported without too much problem)

Said like that, it seems a real hell to make ships for starfury/SEV.... Is there a simpler way to generate good looking .x files ?
Is there a 3D tool that is able to proceed all these steps ?

About the Citizen Federation Shipset : it's doing well, just 14 picture to draw and the first Version will be released.

You can have a look at URL and give your "beta" impressions :

Your shipset is really superb. I'll be one of the hundreds fan downloading it as soon as it is released, put some bugs races around, and launch a game, me against them

Three cheers for a shipset that has a different "leader" picture from the "population" picture!

Hip hip hooray!!!

The rest of it looks extremely nice and promising, as well!
