Coming soon... planet graphic generator
OK, this program won't really be all that useful, but if you want to make custom graphics for SE4 have no clue how to use any sort of rendering software this might be right up your alley...
Basically what this program will do is you specify a size, some colors, patterns, etc. and it generates a POV-Ray scene file (no need to worry about what that is if you don't know ) and calls POV-Ray (the renderer) to actually generate a graphic of your planet.
I know I'll actually finish this project because I decided to do it as a project for my Visual Basic programming class so if I don't finish it there will be an impact on my grade! Look for a working program in about a week or two...

Re: Coming soon... planet graphic generator
Hmm... good idea. Would be even better if you put in a few options, threw in a randomizer, and let it add to planets.bmp and make more p????.bmp files. And maybe add on to SectType.txt and SystemTypes.txt, to make use of the new pictures...
Just some ideas

Re: Coming soon... planet graphic generator
Got the project done, not everything I wanted (can't figure out how to get it to close POV-Ray when it's done rendering) but I'm not sure how I'd upload it since it's on a zip disk and I don't have a zip drive on the family PC, only on my laptop, which is broken... I could try uploading it at school, maybe, but I'm not sure if I could actually make it accessible to anybody... hey, wait, I can just put it in the modding tools! I'll have it up soon, I need to pay attention to my professor now
edit: here it is 1054837511.zip
this is just the minimal installer, you'll need Microsoft's .NET Framework Runtime which you can download from www.microsoft.com and you might need to get an installer package or something, the installer SHOULD tell you if you need any components but I'm not sure... also you'll need POV-Ray ( www.povray.org) - but honest, once you've got all that installed, it DOES work!
