There's a similar bug with race 'contact'. If you hide in a sight-obscuring storm (and get there while cloaked or before any other race is present) you can attack any 'unknown' race from within it and it will not trigger 'first contact'! They will not even know you exist as long as you return to the storm or recloak before the turn is over. The 'recognition' check only occurs with warp points, it seems. I've used this to keep neutrals and even rival AI empires from growing too fast...

Funny, but rather useless, indeed.
Have you ever visited a place for the first time with your eyes closed and saying : "No, I don't wanna know anything about this place, I'll keep my eyes closed until I'm out ! looks like an insane behaviour, doesn't it ?  |
