Can't colonize gas giants

You need to make a new colony ship design with a Gas giant colony component.

It'll also give you that message if you do have a gas giant colony pod on board, but it's damaged (Usually either by going through an unstable warp point or occasionally by an AI's ship bomb intel op. If it's on Minister, then Last I checked the ship will *keep going* to its destination even 'tho it needs to be repaired first.)

When I read the answers to my question I thought 'What, do these guys think I'm stupid? It's for a gas giant. Of course I put a gas colony on it!' ROCK!!!!

Don't feel so touchy. I know I've previously made a mistake of copying my rock colony ship design and redesignating it as a gas or ice colony ship, but forgetting to change the colonizer component and wondering why it won't let me colonize the planet.

I'm going to guess that others have done so and concluded you've made that mistake as well. It's very embarassing.

So, was it a gas colony component on the ship that failed, or did you accidently put the wrong component on that ship?

what sinapus said...I been playing since October and STILL today I goofed and put an Ice colonizer comp in what I called a gas colonizer...just goofed, so it DOES happen...DOH!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who copies the Rock Colony and renames it a Gas Colony without remembering to trade out the colonization modules. Thank goodness for lots and lots of minerals in storage and quick retrofits.

Worse, some of those planet bitmaps are misleading. So sometimes even when I have the right colony module type on the right ship I end up with that message because what I thought was a rock planet was really ice, or vice versa.

I'm also glad I put planet space yards on nearly all my planets. Retrofitting is sooo much easier then.

(I don't build huge amounts of ships, but I find that the PSY's help build facilities much quicker.)
