I'm not so sure...After banging my head off the monitor in frustration from the windows OS i have had a mark on my forehead...

Edit: On a more spiritual note i know a few christians who believe that the European Union is the beginning of an empire prophesied in the bible. A lot of the prophercies can be interpreted these days relating to events happening, but my personal view is that at any time a prophecy can be interpreted. It's just the world being in a bad state at the moment

Oh, OK, I see. Hope my Last post wasn't too sarcastic. You have to read the article cited at the beginning of this topic by whoever started this thing. Which wasn't me. I hopped on board just to point out that the cited article didn't say Bill is the antichrist, but that a software monopoly with that kind of centralized control is something that the antichrist would find useful.

The rest of my post was just to point out that, whether you believe the Bible writers were inspired by God or not, they do seem to have been "spot on" (as the Brits would say) in quite a few of their warnings. So maybe we should think about their predictions for what a person or government or business would do with that kind of centralized power. The writers were certainly well-acquainted with absolute dictators and religious intolerance disguised as inclusiveness.

Correction: It is not specifically stated as either literal or figurative.

And since I have a vague recollection of part of that one saying that people could not do business without it...

The passage can be found at Rev. 13: 16-18

The Bible tells us that efforts would be put forth to place the mark of this composite, imperfect, deficient political ruling organization upon the foreheads and on the hands of men, who will not “be able to buy or sell” unless they are identified in mental support and in activity as slaves and worshipers of the wild beast. So the political rulers put on pressure to the extent that they would make existence almost impossible for those who refuse to worship them or the political State. It is most evident in the rising tide of nationalism. In the days of Rome people were required to burn incense to the emperor.
