The concept ship at the start of this thread, was something that I visualized Last night. I had not considered that it looked like some boat, but given the fact that most ships do look like boats in some way or another, I guess it fits.
I was thinking along the lines of a Cat Race.

It reminds me more of a Formula 1 than a boat.
But if you want a list of interesting shapes on which to base ships, I can throw down a few.
My favorite has to be the feline shoulder blade. There's just something about asymmetry
