Re: ship movement slowdown on new computer
Recently got a new computer and had the same thing happen. I'm discovering that I hate XP for a varierty of reasons.

Re: ship movement slowdown on new computer
If you have CD music on and have another non-music CD in the drive - it does cause a major slowdown.

Re: ship movement slowdown on new computer
I have XP and don't have problems. Although I only play simultaneous turn games so the ships aren't supposed to move anyway. Can someone describe in more detail what is happening and when? I will try it out and see if I can duplicate it.

For me, and I think others in simultaneous games, when viewing a combat replay, it's agonizingly slow (and if you put it on fast combat, it's TOO fast to see).
For those playing solo games, I suspect watching a chip take its move is the same way.

Re: ship movement slowdown on new computer
Turn off all ship movement animation (in the main game options screen and the combat screen), and turn on "fast ship movement" or some such. IIRC, this should alleviate the problem. If not, try various combinations of these settings being on and off, as well as turning off the "Allow CD Music" option in Data\Settings.txt, as mentioned previously.
