Definitely go with the D20, if for no other reason to cut off Steve Jackson. He is a serious bastard, sueing people at the drop of a hat and then ripping off everyone else 
I am a fan of the HERO system, and if you've played it GURPS is obviously a ripoff of it, albiet simplified for the less mathematically inclined.

Never played Hero. I played Champions for awhile. But what is this D20? I've seen the name, but since I've been out of RPG's for the past 10 years, I'm not familiar with. |
