I might as well ask this question on this thread. What is the difference between the 'regular' and the Warlord editions of Shogun : Total War ? Are there any other Versions of this game ? Which one do you recommend ? Do you recommend this game at all ?

Any advice is welcome.

I finally got Railroad Tycoon 3 and the new expansion disc for Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. I also picked up a 6-pack of games at Wal-mart that included Discipline (?) II and the 2 stand alone expansion discs, Robin Hood, Prince of Quin and another one I can't remember now.

In the Warlords edition you get to fight against the Mongol invasion. I think Medieval Total War: Viking Invasion is better personally. But if you haven't try the game yet go with the Warlords edition.

The Warlord edition is also quite a patch on the original game. They fixed some things, added some very nice features. Definately get that Version.

While Medieval is nice, the overhead (moving units around every dang turn) could use a lot of automation. Eventually it drags the whole game down, for me anyway.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely get Shogun instead of Medieval because of the setting (I might get Medieval later if I really enjoy the gameplay).

Yeah, the boardgame-like GUI is fun at first and easy to learn, but later when the strategic map gets filled with pieces, dragging and dropping them is a real pain, and worse, sometimes some regions get really crowded with pieces and it gets hard to pick out the specific ones that you want.
