I am the player se5a is refering too. and I'd like to ask the opposite question (as I really enjoy this game and dont wanna accidently end it) which are the best ways to drop in score? I already scrapped most of my bases. but I dont feel like destroying my own fleet . do mothballed ships count?

if not I could just mothball a really huge fleet, and should ever someone dare to attack me I would just need to unmothball them and I would have won

can you confirm that units dont count? I could start using drones then...

Default Re: score

Units do not count towards the score. The increase in happiness from police troops is indirectly added, in the form of extra resources produced on happy worlds.

Mothballed ships do not count towards the score (except in early Versions of SE4, like 1.00 ).

himnnn, I supose I could reserch all those realy cheap techs I havent botherd with.

and yea it has been a verry good and interesting game so far, it would be a shame to end it now.
though I expect my score to start going up again fairly soon...

I think the reason my score is not so high is that I have not botherd building resorce extractors unless I realy looked like I was going to need them. - I just built reserch instead. and reserched fairly expencive things (like colonisation should have traded for that duh!) so my tech levels went up rather slowly although I am reserching quite a good bit.

Why can't we just declare Maerlyn a Mega Evil Empire and gang up on him?

Uh, no offense, Maerlyn, I'm only the 5th ranking player. Please don't attack me.

Hmm... I thought everything in the 'comparisons' charts counted at least somewhat towards score. I'll have to test whether units count towards score. If not, this is a major flaw.

I do know that mothballed ships don't count towards score, stored resources do not count towards score, and resources acquired by remote mining don't count towards score.

Now combine those facts with the units effect (if true) and you can see that it is possible to be vastly more powerful than your score would make it seem. Instead of colonizing resource rich mineral planets, built remote mining bases over them. Especially if they are small or tiny. You'll actually get more out of them than if you colonized!

Stockpile units and immediately mothball built ships for a while. You will have to spend some resources on refitting them to keep them up to date, of course, but you save at least as much on the maint as you spend on the upgrades. If/when you are attacked or need to attack someone else you just unmothball enough ships to do the job (including transports/carriers to haul all those units) and bury the poor sap who got in your way...

Reducing your own score is easy. Mothball ships. Reducing someone else's score requires... compelled retirement of ships. (See above technique... )

BTW, for all of these reasons I recommend NOT using score victory conditions.

End it! End it! End it!
*tries some ventriliquism*
Deccan: Word! Word!

It is a fun game. But one I am in no way shape or form in the running as a winner for. And I should be.

Stupid experiment in alternate empire setup and economic buildup. A complete flop of an experiment.

My empire is the perfect example of land rich and everything else poor. More planets than anyone cept Maerlyn and 6 to 8 in everything else.

Oh well. Rping a corrupt and ineffective hostile expansionist race slowly losing all its allies should be just as fun. I hate being stuck in a corner.
