Yeah, yeah, here’s my papers. I’m a master chief on the Borabath. She’s that free trader docked over there. Captain Kolnoth is my boss. He’s a Gravian, Gravan, whatever they call themselves. I just call him Captain. Some kind of retired war hero I guess, but I don't know much about that, my people aren't much for fighting. He can vouch for me if you see anything out of order there, or the XO if the Captains busy. I’ve got a few hours off and I’m going to get a drink over here if you don’t mind.

What’s that? No, I don’t suppose you would recognize my kind. I wouldn’t doubt I’m the only one of my race that’s made it this far out. I’ve been making my way from system to system on whatever rust bucket I can work passage on. Got to go where the money is I always say.

Well, I’m a Rygkesh, it says so right there. No, I’m not surprised you haven’t heard of us either. Oh, don’t bother looking in your database there. I doubt anybody wasted any space on our poor little Federation in their grand histories. We barely made it out of our own homesystem. Probably never spread to more then 60 planets in our entire history.

We pretty much kept to ourselves. We were tucked way out there, you call it the eastern regions. Well away from all the goings on with the big boys. Never even fought any wars of note until the end. That’s probably why it all went downhill so quick.

We just didn’t have the concept of what it took to build a decent combat vessel. Heck the Borabath is listed as a noncombatant and she could probably fight off a squadron of the best warships the Ryngkesh could have produced in their heyday.

No, we weren't much for fighting, that’s for sure. Problem is we weren’t much for trading either. We pretty much just kept to ourselves, and the other races seemed to be ok with that. We traded with a few races close by. The Gorzaak, and the Tuskans, and later on the Suzians. But we never really got the impression that they cared much about our part of the quadrant.

What happened? Well, I’ll tell you. The Borealis Empire went crazy. You may have heard about that. Decided that we couldn’t be trusted or something. Started attacking our ships and colonies. Well, as weak as we were, even we could beat up on the Borealis.

So our leaders started getting a little uppity. Thought maybe we could play with the big boys. We started getting all sorts of patriotic garbage about defending the Federation from the zealots, and joining the Suzians and Tuskans in some grand alliance of peace. Seems to me though peace wasn't on anyone's mind really.

That’s when we made our big mistake and attacked a couple Gravey worlds in Borealis space. At least that’s what we thought they were. Turns out it was all Gravey space that the Borealis were living in.

Anyway, as you might expect they didn’t care much for us taking potshots at their backwater planets, so they stopped ignoring us. From what I hear it was less then a year after that the Gravey fleet entered our homesystem. Of course it took out a couple hundred of the Ryngkesh’s finest on the way. Didn’t even slow them down from what I hear.

Long before that though I saw what was coming and was long gone. Worked my way onto a Gorzaak transport and got as far away from there as I could.

Why did I leave? I told you. I’m a Ryngkesh. We aren’t much for fighting.

A classic example of Why the MIddle of the game is the reason I play SEIV.

THe beginning could have killed the game with 2 key withdraws but we stuck it out.

The Middle of the game streached for about 65 turns ( on 2 day turn around plus pbw breaks ) before it entered the end game. Which we decided to rap up... before it dragged out.

THose who have not played RP with these pbw players should do so. They are honest and realiable players who make the game enjoyable. Play in character to the bitter end. I did not even meet geo. Well I do not think I met him

It was around the year 2400.0 that I came to power of the Andurian Empire. As our Empire is now threatened with destruction, I look back over my notes of my time in office.

Ahh yes, it was 2404.6 I received a message from the Tuskens asking us to remove a Colony ship that entered Ghruechris, stoopid Captain was running out of fuel and thought, "Hey what the hell, lets go through that Warp point", then the Overlord pointed out that my neighbor Elsrealan Distopia tried to break that barrier and was put in his place.

I ignored the saber rattling and informed the Tuskens that I would remove the colony ship with no problems. Then I fired off a letter to the Elsrealan's about strengthening our relations, since it seemed that we had the same reason to worry about Tuskens.

In 2404.8 we hear back from the Tuskens, they point out that there was no previous treaty between our empires and that they WILL colonize in Zan, well Hott Damn, We can't colonize in Ghruechris and he will colonize in Zan, that is 3/4 of the map and leaves up pushed into a corner. All we want to do is get an idea of the lay of the land and we find out that this piggy is taking all the systems. We reply that the colony ship is moving and that we hear them clear and loud.

We hear back from the Elsrealan and they accept a Military Alliance, something is going right.

2404.9 We write a letter to the Nostropholean Planet States about not colonizing so close to our H.W.

2405.1 We hear back from NPS, they are not willing to work anything out, they do not care that they are pressing our HW and they want planets that have been colonized back. We reply the 2 sectors in question are too close to our HM sector and that we are very concerned about how close they are.

*sigh* Perhaps I should have been more aggressive with them at that point, they continued to colonize there, so now we have NO place to expand, 10 sectors sound like a lot, but there is no real buffer around our HW, yes, I bring that up a lot, but I would have felt more secure if there was more sectors between empires.

We see that the Tuskens declares war on our MA ally Elsrealan, there is no way that I can stand by and let the Tuskens take over them, then our empire would be pinched on 3 different fronts and there would be no buffer at all. We tell the Elsrealans that we have what ships we have on the way, and we started mining warp points. Little did we know that the A.I. was controlling the Elsrealan's, but it wouldn't matter, Tuskens will not be allowed into that sector.

2405.6 It seems that the issue with the NPS has simmered down, of course I wished that they were not in those 2 systems we are sharing, at least I can see what is going on.
We send a message to the Tuskens that we will not permit their intrusion into the sector and that we will defend the Elsrealan's sector since they are our MA ally.

2406.8 It takes a while, but the Tuskens reply, they point out that since the empire in question is controlled by the A.I. I can not have an alliance with them. That a planet that shared the orbit with my planet was lost and that I will pay dearly for that lost. And if I persisted in defending the Elsrealan's I will be annihilated.

I reply of course, I tell the Overlord that I do not car who controls my ally, the Tuskens will only be allowed into Carmelmaria over my dead body period. I also told them it was sad about their planet, but that is an issue with sharing the same orbit. We do offer a replacement planet if they leave the sector. I started mining many other warp points since our war ship production was way low, we knew that we could not do much.

Ohh, good news, we meet a new race, Suezians, they offered a T/R which we accepted.

2407.0 A new leader of the Tuskens asks us for non-aggression treaty.

We accept, and give our side of history between our 2 empires.

2407.6 WOW, we get some weird Tusken Video program and at the end the new leader tells us when they clean up their internal conflict they will come and kill us. What can we say, so we say nothing.

2408.4 We get a message from the NPS telling us and the Tuskens not to battle in the Zan sector, since (oh yea, we forgot, another race came in and colonized in Zan *sigh*).

I wrote back to NPS, stating that I have tried to work things out with the Tuskens, but they are changing leaders like I change underwear.

2409.0 NPS writes to me saying that he will negotiate a cease fire between us and the Tuskens, I think to my self, golly, feel full of yourself don't ya. He goes on to say that I should pay reparations ect... blah blah, I think to myself WTH? I just try to defend a sector and an ally and I have to PAY, no way in Hades.

Of course we write back stating that we have only defended ourselves and there will be no repayments ect... and if anything should be done, make the Tuskens LEAVE us alone and leave the sector that I am defending.

2409.4 Things have calmed down, must be due to Gravey killing everyone. The Tuskens and ourselves have patched things out as best as possible. We have talked about allying ourselves against the religious peoples.

2412.9 Present day. We look back and see that we have tried the best we could being backed up into a corner and not allowed to expand. Though the data says we are in 17 systems, we have 11 systems to ourselves and 157 planets. It would only be a mater of time and we will fall also.

OOC, I took over for Fyron, and I doubt that I will ever take over for anyone again, I didn't have a clue how to play the empire he set up, I was always out of Rads and could hardly build a fleet. It got to a point that I had many baseships on hold because lack of rads. Also being suck into a corner hurt, not being able to expand, I bet if I had more planets I might not of had an issue with the lack of Rads. I had fun anyways and look forward to many more games.
