Re: OT - Favorite Music?
I have eclectic tastes in music. I'll listen to just about about anything except opera, at least for a while.
Favorite album: Morrison Hotel (The Doors)
I am now officially a dinosaur.

Ah but I do! 3 chord song + bad lyrics in poor singing voice to victory! Perhaps it is not simply the lyrics and the music that you should judge music by. Listen to the EMOTION contained in the music, and you will find truly good music. The bands I mentioned have quite a bit of emotion (mostly) and therefore I enjoy the music. Perhaps others do as well?

Re: OT - Favorite Music?
Emotion is only a part of what makes music good. You can not have good music just because it is emotional. The music itself still has to be good. Few of those bands ever seem to have much emotion in their singing or playing anyways.

Re: OT - Favorite Music?
emotional? George Jones' 'he stopped loving her today'. number one most emotional song i've ever heard, even if it makes strong men loudly claim they've never cried in their life.

It's still around, you just have to find it. As a plus, many of the hippies now bathe regularly.
I think the most emotional piece of 'modern' music I've ever heard is 'Fade to Black' played by four Finns on cellos, who call themselves Apocalyptica. Very good stuff.
But if you want music that expresses emotion best, you should look into opera or at least showtunes.
