Re: Holding on to the Experience :)
I keep hearing about Tribes, but I have no idea of what it's about. Can someone tell me in 10 words or less, so I can have a clue?

Re: Holding on to the Experience :)
It is a FPS game that is apparently more complex and deep than Half-Life-esque FPS games.

Oh, a shooter. Probably why it never registered with me. I'm not really into the shooter type games. But thanks for info, even it was over 10 words.

Re: Holding on to the Experience :)
i can do better:
multiplayer only, squad based FPS with small unit tactics.
it does look cool, though i've never played it. even with the tactical elements, it looks like it comes down to twichy reflexes like all FPSers.

Re: Holding on to the Experience :)
Id like to see ongoing upgrades to SE4 - maybe not as often but perhaps every 6 months. At least until SE5 is actually out to keep ongoing fan interest ? otherwise the effort with publicity might be a bit much.

Re: Holding on to the Experience :)
THIS IS ABOUT TRIBES 2!!!!
Tribes series is the absolute BEST multiplayer gaming experience out there right now. Honestly, until Tribes 3 comes out you will not find anything better. It is a first person shooter, but with a small RPG element in it. There are over 12 mission types (duel, capture the flag, defend and destroy, rabbit, siege) and TONS of maps. The modding community is huge but I would only recommend only 2 mods though - Aerial mod and Meltdown 2 mod (the most quality of them all). You use team tactics to advance your goals in the game. There are vehicles like tanks and jets (mods add a TON of vehicles) and most vehicles require a driver and shooter(s).
The small RPG element comes in when you go to the inventories. You can hit numpad "enter" at any time in game and select different inventory loadouts or customize your own. When you step on an inventory you can change from a flag capping scout armor to a heavy juggernaut armor in a second! There are tons of things in the inventory to choose from ---> energy packs, shield packs, grenades, mines, turrets (auto defense), cloaking packs, one hit kill weapons, fast weapons, medium weapons, repair packs (become your team's medic), engineering supplies, remote cameras, anti-cloak devices, and that is just a SHORT LIST!!!
Of course the COOLEST part of Tribes is at any time, when you feel like it, you can fly! YEP YOU CAN FLY! All you have to do is hit your second mouse button and your jump jets send you shooting up, up, up and away! Of course this is limited by your energy (small armors = more energy while heavy = less).
SO in short that is why I LOVE Tribes 2. It is my favorite game actually, and I probably will never stop playing it. It only cost me $10!!!
The only downside is the learning curve is extremely steep and unless you are engineering/repairing you need good reflexes and a VERY QUICK WIT. I think the older Tribes players are the best FPS players I have seen in any game, and unless you learn quick, you better stick to the noob servers because they show no mercy! LOL

Re: Holding on to the Experience :)
Is there anywhere one could download a "game movie" or some screen shots for Tribes so we can get a visual of what you guys are talking about?
