My favorite set up is pretty similiar to yours.
I use patch 4, TDM 1.61 and set max systems to 175.
Mid-Life Quad. Medium or Large.
Events and Techs - Default
Starting:
100,000 points, for the research. With low tech allows some variation in starting techs
Home planet - Good
Number - 1-3 depending on mood
5000 point game, only use 3000 for me
All others default
Players - 5-10 depending on mood all added and all assigned extra points if not a 5000 point race.
No random players or neutrals
High difficulty no bonus
One survivor
Set up - default except only colonize home planet type. Occasionally only colonize breathable atmosphere, colonies are real valuable with this option!.
