my understanding of that was that Brent Spiner asked to be killed off... i heard that a long time ago though, and I'm not sure from where.

The plot of Insurrection is what ruined it for me. The enterprise crew felt the effects of the planet when they entered the system even before getting to the planet itself. If the planet effect was that strong then why wouldn't they just build space stations in orbit? That way they could have gained the benefit of the planet without violating the Prime Directive.

Not only that, but he used to have a quote from First Contact in his signature.

The rereleased DVD's are fantasic. Next up is generations.

I just finished IV and the extras.

For those who have not seen these double dvd's Start at 1 and work your way up.

With the new sub going the room shakes....

In IV when the big turd shows up at the beginning I had to turn down the sub.... The whole room was shaking.

It was very very cool.

Next up is V. Most likely in a few weeks.

I will rewatch them again when I get the projector room up and running and the duel subs

Oh darn, I didn't see Insurrection. Data dies? Don't worry that's not a spoiler for me. I think I'll go rent it this Friday.

Continuing with my attempt to add Capt. Pike to new situations...and be weird.

A Battlebots episode with Capt. Christopher Pike going against a Dalek!

Nemesis, the Last one, was not a bad movie. I like a lot of what the director did however the dark colors really made enjoying the movie a bit depressing. The death of Data was a well known fact before the movie even began production. John Logan had written a good script with Brent Spiner, but when Rick Berman got a hold of it, well you saw the end result.

Additionally if they would have kept the movie at its original 2 hours and 45 minute length, a lot of things would have made sense. The fact that the duplicate Data was actually constructed by the Romulans based upon the stolen plans for Data would have been an important fact to leave in the movie, but again Rick Berman cut it out.

Oh well.

All we can do now is hope that the rumor that Data survived the bLast rumor is true. That although damaged heavily he survives and is restored by using Lores parts.

Hell they brought Spoke back from the dead.
I also liked Nemesis, but there were somethings that really bugged me being a Star Trek fan. Wesley Crusher was at the wedding but I though he was with the traveler. I had to read on a message board that in the Nemesis novel, they explain that Wesley came back, finished his cadet training and is now serving with Captain Riker on the USS Titan. I wish they said that in the movie. Plus you discover only by watching the deleted scenes that Beverly Crusher is now working at Star Fleet Medical. I notice the offical Startrek website hasn't been updated with this information although it shows Deanna Troi as Riker's wife and serving aboard the USS Titan. Also the novel talks about Geordi going to Data's quarters after he dies and giving Worf the cat Spot to look after.

This is the stuff I really missed in Nemesis. I get tired of movies trying to reach a certain running time of around 2 hours to try to tell the story. Hasn't The Lord of the Ring taught the movie industry anything? I feel the Star Wars prequels also suffer from running time. I feel they cram too much in a small amount of space. But that is going off-topic.
