Oh boy, which one am I? Star Trek geek boy ( who would preferred to be called a Trekkie) or hard core B5 fan? Decisions, decisions.... I know more of Trek, having been growing up when the TOS first started going into syndication. But I do like B5, even though I haven't seen all of the episodes dozens of times. I can't seem to catch B5 on tv nowadays, so I'll have to put the dvd sets on lay-away one of these days so I can watch them. So I won't call myself hard core yet. But regardless of what I can call myself, I wouldn't ever diss any shipset that Atrocities may put out.

If you haven't seen all the episodes of B5, than don't bother to call yourself a hardcore fan.

Well, I did say I hadn't seen the episodes dozens of times. So you're right. I"m not hardcore in that sense. But I do support any sci-fi tv show that can Last more than a few weeks before getting canned. But if I have the chance to put one of the B5 dvd sets on layaway this year, and keep it on layaway, I'll do it.

Note the term "hyperactive" in front of fanboy. It makes all the difference. Regular fanboys- those that do not set out to ruin other people's lives just because some trivial detail that only they care about is not 100% their Version of canon- are just fine.

Then call me a B5 fanboy, because I haven't watched the show so much that I get irritated at non-canon stuff. Heck, I don't even get irritated at all of the Star Trek stuff that's not canon. LIke Atroticites mod, as long as it's in the spirit of ST, then I don't care.

This is just a generalization and is not intended to offend or otherwise insult any member of this forum.

Hard Core Geek Boys of star trek are not Trekkies or trekkers. These guys eat, breath, live, and fantise about Star Trek as if it were real. They are the ones that show up at conventions and hiss at people who's costumes are not authentic enough. These are the guys who ask the stupid questions like "What was the combination to your safe on the Enterprise in Episode such and such?"

They are the cry babies who go and tattle on people at work and no not the meaning of clean hair and fixed glasses. (They prefer to where the broken ones held together with white or black tape.) They generally will accept some non cannon star trek things, but most often just launch a letter writing compaine to have your web site shut down. They are a source of many many many negative emails over the years. I have most of them on my block list now.

Now Babylon 5 fan boys are a much different breed. Mostly men who have no love of current reality and identify more often than not with characters from B5. These people are generally smarter than uber Trek fans and actaully have a life. However, they are adamant resivor dogs when it comes to cannon and anything that pokes up on their non cannon radar is instantly considered FUBAR.

As much as a sci-fi geek that I am, I can't call myself hardcore by your definition, AT. Sure, I eat, drink and breathe sci-fi, but I do know how to recognize reality. As much as I've read the novels, I still have trouble recognizing some races or remember every single detail from every single Star Wars or Star Trek book I've read. And I've probably read more SW books than I have ST books. The lack of continuity of the ST books just doesnt' do it for me. Heck, nowadays, it may take me a month to even read a book, unless I'm working on the weekends. And I don't get to watch sci-fi programming or movies as much as I'd like to. Part of it I can blame on letting my son watch whatever it is he wants to watch to keep him quiet, and part of it is my wife doesn't like to watch that stuff. Usually by the time I get the kid to bed, I start playing SEIVG and don't watch the tv, unless Jerry Springer is on. So, no, I'm not hardcore. And I would never condone the practice of blockading someone's website because it isn't 100% canon. I've met some of these types (usually playing D&D, and they're the ones who know all of the rules without cracking open a book), and I don't like them either.
