Re: Very slow loading on XP
That's not too strange. Autosave will go up to 10 Versions and if you have player stats active then you get .txt files for each player for each save so that can add up very quickly. There are only 3 important files really to the savegame.
You turn off the logs in the settings.txt about 3/4s of the way down.
Slow load ups on the intro screen are usually due to another CD in the drive when CD music for the game is turned on. If it's a data CD then the game starts going putt-putt looking for the music tracks...

Re: Very slow loading on XP
And i found another folder - history. It has around 9000 files too. So can you please explain how to make normal autosave each turn with minimum files created?
I checked settings.txt ant logs were false...but nov i just made another turn and got another autosave for 1200 files and 1200 history files...its insane stupid saving system.

Re: Very slow loading on XP
That is most odd and not normal. What kind of files are they?

Re: Very slow loading on XP
What is the actual name of your savegame? It doesn't seem like your game is following the normal save procedure.
You should only have 1 .gam and perhaps 1 .cmb file for each save game name. You seem to have multiple...
Autosave files are always named starting with autosav#, where # is from 1-0.

Re: Very slow loading on XP
savegame name - 2
As i said before it generates 1230 files each time i save manually or with autosave. and also same amount of history files...most of them have such big names as i posted below.
First 4 files are normal:
2.gam
2_current_replay_combat.cmb
2_plr_1_events.txt
2_plr_1_stats.txt
Then weirdo files go...
2_tosav0_tosav0_tosav2_plr_1_events.txt
2_tosav0_tosav0_tosav2_plr_1_stats.txt
2_tosav0_tosav0_tosav6_tosav2_plr_1_events.txt
2_tosav0_tosav2_current_replay_combat.cmb

Re: Very slow loading on XP
I'd run a virus scan for sure - and next I'd reinstall the game.
The first files are fine and how it should be, plus maybe a few autosave files depending on how frequently you have it set.
The rest are wierd and is making me think something more sinister is going on.
