Automate combat?
I have used the search engine here to see if this has been answered, but I couldn't find anything that talked about my specific "issue".
I play SE4 a LOT (8 or more hours a day...), and the single biggest problem I have with it is that I have to push the "begin"/"begin"/"close" buttons for combat even though I have it set for strategic combat only (i.e. I can't take control of combat).
The turns that would take several minutes of play are instead taking 1/2 hour or an hour because it sits on those combat screens waiting for me to push them.
What I am looking for is the ability to hit the turn button, and when I come back to it in 10 minutes, it will be at my next turn with the combat's all done automatically (like they are supposed to be anyway).
Anybody have any ideas if this is possible? Hopefully I missed something simple...

Re: Automate combat?
Play in Simultaneous mode, not Turn Based.

Re: Automate combat?
I'll give that a try.
For some reason, I thought it wasn't a good idea to use for single player games, but I can't think of why. Doh!
Thanks!

Re: Automate combat?
OK, I tried it.
Now I can no longer do anything within my turn: like playing in a pbm game, I issue orders and they get done on my behalf at turn time.
Drats. I suppose this means there's no way to do it.
Such a simple thing that could make a huge difference in the spg.
Thanks for the input!

Re: Automate combat?
Just select the option "No Tactical Combat" at the beginning of the game. Or, always hit "Strategic" whenever the combat window pops up!

Re: Automate combat?
Ed, I think he's more refering to the AI's turn. If he is in a big game it could take several minutes to run each AI's turn and he'd have to OK it each time.

Re: Automate combat?
Thats exactly correct. I have it set for no combat already at the beginning of the game. Problem is that I can't start the next turn and walk away and get a cup of coffee or the like, because it will still be sitting there waiting for my to push the "Begin", "Begin", and "Close" buttons (in that order).
