I remember back in SE3, I kept chasing colony ships all the time that it was kinda annoying.

And the simple solution would have been to reduce the Max Engines of colony ships to something like 3...

I played the demo for SE 3 and thought it was a lot of fun. I might buy it if I have any extra $$ laying around.

Instead of just having an aloted time period that you had too wait for a ship too get build in SE4, in SE3 you could actually see the ship being built component by component per turn. This was neat because if you needed too send a ship off into battle before construction was completed, you could but the components that where not constructed yet where marked as destroyed. I kinda hope this feature is put back in for SE5.

I loved this! It was great to be staring almost certain death in the face of an enemy and just sending half constructed ships to battle to hold them off that little bit longer. Added a lot of fun if you ask me. I agree this should be put back in, i can only hope

Re: I think I\'ll go order SE3!
The way construction worked in SE3 was great. I liked the ability to move partially built ships from one queue to another queue when you have multiple ship yards in the same place. That was handy for optimizing construction times when each ship yard had a different build rate, or if you wanted to free up a space yard ship to move it somewhere else, and so on.

Yes, the construction system was mesmerizing... which was a slight disadvantage in a sane real-life sense, because it meant I spent a lot of time doing silly fiddling with the queues, but it was *fun* fiddling with them too, in an obsessive, Tetris-like way... ;-)

Re: I think I\'ll go order SE3!
 Hehehe
So very true!
Fond memories of Tetris packing those ships down to the perfect repair and construction efficiency...
What I really like too was the fact that you couldn't spam all your repair into one ship like SE4 does...
There was no freaking way that heavily damaged baseship was going to be operational in less than 6 months, but you could fix a few LCs on the side and build a few fighters using the other repair slots.
