The tie was the only way that both Denmark and Sweden could advance, while poor Italy was knocked out - despite all 3 teams having the same record. |

If i remember correctly, points are awrded on how many goals are scored by a team. I can't remember if extra points are awarded to the team if they draw or win.
Anyway sometimes teams only have to draw to get through to the next round because others teams on the group are on equal score, teams only advance when they have high points in their group division. (Teams are put into Groups to advances..the Groups are then redone as teams advance through the tournament..i think)
Of course England have to play against France didn't they..and how they messed that up although a 4-2 victory over Croatia was good enough for me.
But i don't follow football much anymore so i can't be accurate on how the system works.
