Re: All Time favorite SE moment
Playing my first pbw game, assuming another player's race that was doomed but winning the game by forcing the stronger apponent to surrender due to massive riots. I sent fighter over planets to hover and never attack. Pretty cheezy now but 2+ years ago it worked.
Now it has to be using a star destroyer to eliminate huge fleets or building massive amount of star bases at a warp point that destroys waves of 200+ ships w/o a dent.
Best actual moment are opponents who think outside the box and are not predictable.

Re: All Time favorite SE moment
A few years ago, I found myself on a Navy vessel as an analyst, drilling circles in the ocean off a certain African country. For about a month. Well, after a week of having very little to do, I decided to load up a single player game of SEIV with the TDM mod pack (the only mod I had with me). I set it to 255 systems, high tech cost, and as many AI empires as possible, all set to maximum bonuses to see if I could do it. Never had been able to before. Well, that game sucked so much of my life, it was touch and go the entire damned way, from turn 5 till the end I had to really wrack my brain to stay alive and in the running. Every single turn brought something new that I agonized over. I snuck away at night and lay in my bunk for hourse playing that darned game.
Now, although I was still pretty new to SEIV, I thought I was an ok player until I started playing the AIs in TDM. And this game was tense. After hundreds of turns, I had one battle that I knew was critical. I watched it play out practically biting my nails. it was incredibly even, and to this day i remain convinced that the outcome of the battle hinged on one direct-fire weapon shot from my guys....that missed. The battle, I beleive, was lost becuase of that missed shot. Becuase that battle was lost, a strategic system was lost. You know the rest. For lack of a good die roll, a ship was lost, then a battle, then a system, then my empire. sigh. But it made me a total addict to SEIV.

Re: All Time favorite SE moment
Coming up with The Gryphin Position and Circle the Wagons never dreaming what it would lead to.
Being welcome back here even when I admit I can't handle the game.
Watching Pooh Star in the only game she ever played get indignant and furious when unprovoked Romulons attacked her planet. She went from "Pooh Bear" to "Pissed off Mama Bear" mode and eventualy glassed every planet of theirs.
She then stopped playing "that ^#@$$%& game.

< Insert long list of really cool guys > Your names are now on my carrier.nam list for that other game I play. It's about the highest honor I can give.
Thanks everyone for a great time.
