Whoa. I thought that was just about 'instant death'.
This is when the lining of the aorta rips, without tearing open and spilling into the appropriate cavity, and the vessel swells up like a ballon. And then it does rip.
Is it not?

Is it not? Yep, it was a ruptured aorta, bleeds into the thoracic cavity, but he still lives. (quite a surprise to us aswell, we didn't think it would be bleeding/ruptured, just enlarged and ruptures in the internal vessel wall)
