Yes ... i try both as root and as normal user ...
I think is not a problem o file access since the game start well, I can do most of the things in the creation step ... it breaks when I try to scroll a menu or the races pictures ...

I have installed Wine from source (first I have disinstalled the RPMS and deleted all the .wine directories) ... than installed Space Empries IV gold and everything is fine ... I can run it as user without any problem ...
but I'm not able to patch the game ... when I start the upadter, I find that I have a Space Empires installed on my PC but It told me that the Versione of Space Empires IV I have instaleld is not correct ...

This probably has nothing to do with Linux/Wine. It's a fairly common problem that has to do with the time stamp on teh se4.exe file. You can reinstall from the CD and then patch, or try the fix we found in this thread. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin...=011799#000010
