Hmm, you know, the AI might not have had the tech for mine sweepers. You need to have both Construction and Mine tech and they don't come all that cheap. Who knows, but maybe it was working on it while it tried getting past your blockades. Still not to bright to scrap all those ships trying though . . .

If the AI were smart (0xymoron?) it would take an alternative strategy until it could research mine sweepers: build ships full of armor! These would at least absorb huge amounts of damage and deplete the mine field faster.

What settings did you have for the AI player? They make abig difference.
