I can't speak for Richard or anybody else, obviously, but I'd be surprised if anybody is frustrated or annoyed. I think he's just trying to express the fact that the demo will be ready as soon as it can be.

I think it is certainly not a rude thing to inquire about things that seem confusing, contradictory, or concerning, especially when one does so in a polite way, which everybody definitely has.

Just my 2¢ there . . .
