Trampling always succed. Troops with high defence (not counting shields) can avoid damage, but takes at least one point (IIRC).
Trample dmg is size dependant (dmg=size*4 IIRC).
Dmg is AP.
High size difference allows several tramplings in one turn.
Strength and Attack is not relevant when trampling.
Trampling units rout through your own ranks.
