Re: Question for those who were/are in the armed services...
Ok guys..here is the current structure..the old 17 tanks to a company was the old "H" series that went out in 1986. The number of tanks in a US Army platoon is 4. 3 Platoons to a company and 3 companies to a battalion, 3 battalions to a brigade. Not every battalion in a brigade is armor though, heavy mech has 4 Bradleys (Infantry fighting vehicles) to a platoon...at Brigade level there is either 2 tank and 1 infantry battalion or vice versa. During the late eigthies and earl;y nineties there were 4 companies per battalion but this was reduced to the current 3 beginning in 96. The US Army attack helicopter batalions consist of 24 Apaches. The USAF Attack Squadrons usually consist of 18 (A10) aircraft, the fighter squadrons consist of 24 (F16 or F15). Bomber squadrons vary from 6 to around 12. The US Navy fighter squadron consists of 12 aircraft (F14 or F18). Allied squadrons vary from country to country but are typically 12 to 18. Hope this helps...any questions email me..I have the entire Nato and former Warsaw pact OOB...theres also plenty of Online sites. What I don't have, and what would probably be better for the game is the make up of Star Fleet

Sabre21,
Were you in 1st Cav or does Sabre mean something else?
Myself, I was in the Army from 86 through 97, with the 4/9 (MANCU) light infantry battalion and 501st airbone brigade in Alaska, and with the 1st Cav at Ft. Hood.

Re: Question for those who were/are in the armed services...
Armored Cavalry has a different TOE as well. 8 vehicles (4 M-3 Bradleys, 4 M-1's) per platoon(plus some infantry). I think 4 platoons per troop and like 4 troops per squadron, which ties into a regiment some how.
In WWII the Germans sometimes had armor platoons w/ 5 vehicles each although attrition usually kept this lower.
The breakdowns for the modern USN carrier air seem right although F/A-18's will phase out Tomcats.
A note about the jap carriers at Midway. Due to the earlier arms talks in the 30's, the Japanese were forced to "decommision" some battlecruisers which the then turned into the Kaga and Akagi, kind of like what we did w/ the origional Ranger, our first carrier (converted cruiser). Anyway, that is why the carrier wings were so different for them. They had basically two light carriers, 2 coverted battlecruisers(w/ different designs) and 2 "built from the keel up" carriers. Kind of an oddball assortment.

Re: Question for those who were/are in the armed services...
Just to correct Nerfman, the USNs first carrier was the Langley. Then the Lex and Toga were made from battlecruisers. The Ranger was a purpose built carrier, not converted. I think the only US carriers converted from other ships, after the Lex and Toga, were the CVEs and CVLs.

If you need it, I have the MTOE for:
38th Infantry Division and all subordinates
82nd Airborne Division and all subordinates
for 1999-2004. As for historical, I have some TOEs for 9th ID during WW2 and 7th Cav for Vietnam...

Re: Question for those who were/are in the armed services...
Jourin
I retired from the Army after 26 years about 9 months ago. I was a Cobra pilot...spent over 10 years in the Air Cav at various locations. Although having been in the 1st, 4th, and 17th Cav Regiments..never been in the 1st Cav Div. The Sabre21 I use was my callsign in Korea back in 92-93. I have had others..some not as endearing..hehe..like Troll..i'm still called that by a lot of my old friends. I also did a tour as a ground pounder before flight school in a recon platoon with the 82nd...so over half my career was in the Cav.
