I say we either let Gandalf make a server or we switch the server we play on completely. irc.gamesurge.net has never caused me problems.

Well, that one, irc.gamesurge.net, appears to be working for me where all the others can't resolve host name. So at least firewall is eliminated as a possible problem.

Well if there is one out there that lets people in then Id rather they have the headache.

Switch nets!
IRCnet has shown itself to be really, really unreliable.
I'd suggest Galaxynet, just because I'm familiar with it, it's pretty stable (occasional netsplits), and they have a channel bot that you can get for auto @ and + in the channel, and various other types of permissions.
