Ermor has a number of advantages against the AIs. First, AIs can't cope with the fact that Ermor's dominion burninates the countryside, making it rather useless: So when they fight Ermor, all they take is worthless land, their troops starve, and then a mass of Ermor reinforcements rolls over them.

Secondly, the AI doesn't know how to stockpile huge numbers of priests, or perform attacks like hit-and-run priestings. They'll instead continue to try to use normal units, and take massive, crippling losses, win or lose.

Finally, on the raw magical power level, an Ermor god gets more points to play with than anyone else already, since Ermor can take practically all of the bad scales with no effect, then use it to pump their powers. Impossible simply gives the AIs more points to play with....but they still have to purchase scales, whereas Ermor doesn't.
