Default More the one god for a nations ?

Hi ...

is there a way to have (and use) more than one god for a nations ? If I want to create a Ulm god and use it in a game and in the same time I want to have a different game with a different ulm god how can I do ?

thank you

It takes a bit fidgeting. Your gods are saved as .2h files in the "newlords" folder. Create one god, make a copy of ulm.2h and name it say ulmx.2h. Then make the second one. Shifting between the gods should be nothing more than shifting what file is called ulm.2h for the moment.

You can copy/backup the 2h files to keep a god for future use, but anyway once a game is started the god is stored in the game file, so you don't lose your 1st god in your 1st game even if you make a new one for a 2nd game...

That's a utility I'd like to see added in-game: a "pretender browser" that allows you to save multiple designs, tinker with them, view them without having to go through the whole create game/play game bit, etc.

You can save them, but after I make them, I generally forget exactly what stats they have anyway.

How about a third party, or even a first party(Hey Kris, Johan and gang!) Pretender viewer, and a Pretender selector screen. Could have the viewer aim for the newlords file, and show what the pretender has for stats/castle/dominion, and use that same file to pull which one you want to start the new game with.

For some reason I swear someone had done that for Dom1 but I cant find it now.

Even if it would read a god file and just print out the parameters it would be a good start.

The .2h file only affects the games you start, but trying out new pretender designs does not affect your ongoing games in any way.

This is quite obvious, but I don't know if it is stated anywhere...

I think Liga's original question may have been simpler than that. You can just use:

Create Ulm god Version 1.
Start new game using Ulm.
Create Ulm god Version 2.
Start another game using Ulm.

and they won't interfere with each other. You would need to back up the files if you wanted to keep your Ulm Version 1 to use when creating future games.

Thanks to all ... so, as far as the game is now, I can start different game with different pretemder of the same nation, but if I want to resuse on of them I need to make a manual backup.

that's sound pretty good (and easy)

bye bye
