Put the .map and .tga files in the Dominions 2 "Maps" folder. They are used to generate a new game, which is stored in ftherlnd file. Then players submit orders .2h files (not to confuse with pretender designs which are also .2h files but in the newlords folder...), and processed turns are .trn files.
Once a game is started the .map file isn't used anymore, only ftherlnd is, but .tga is still needed (to display the map !)

If someone wants to correct the .map file and send it to me ... I just did. I found two Provinces that looked like sea provinces, but were missing the flag. (I also changed the map name to something more explicit)

I have uploaded the replacement .map file and provided a direct link to it on the page so folks do not need to re-d/l the entire huge archive. The updated archive itself (including Phil's .map) will be ready for d/l in about 45 minutes.
