Re: I can\'t patch (1.2--->1.35), and........
Did you completely un-install SE4. I had a similiar problem until I found that I had not removed of the program. Something in what was left was giving me an error. I deleted the directory and started fom scratch and it worked.
Hope this helps.

Try downloading the patch again. You may have a corrupted file.

Great!!!
Thank you, guys! It finally works!
I think it's the problem of not uninstall completely.
I tried to find every possible directory and deleted them all. But there must be something I missed, it still didn't work.
Guess what, I installed to another directory then patched, It did work!
I can enjoy the WHOLE SE4 right now!!! ^_^
Very appreciated for your helps!
Hope all of you enjoy the game as much as I am!

Another point - if you do play in simultaneous mode, on the log report of combats, press the "Combat Replay" button and you can watch what actually happened - at least, with whatever patch added that spiffy feature.
Meanwhile, I just tried to patch 1.27 to 1.35, and it said I had the wrong Version, although it mentioned 1.27 was a Version it could patch from. I had modified one of the data files, though.

Note: combat replay will NOT show damage to ships, and it will not show whether or not any shot hit or missed.

Weren't there two Versions of 1.27?
The other question is how the new patch determines your current patch level - is it a text file in the SE4 directory, or is it a Registry entry. The answer may lead to finding the problem...

Yes, there were; "1.27a" had a serious bug that was quickly reported and fixed in "1.27b" before a lot of people had even downloaded "a", but the patches were both just called "1.27".
