Any support for this ?

I support it... and it seems like that's the way it should work if you password protect your pretender.
I have yet to have someone steal my spot in an MP game, but it seems like an easy mistake to make on your first MP game... you might assume that the dark black ones are all nations that are open for you to chose, not simply the nations you've previously created a pretender for...
Simply having a password check to replace the pretender would solve the accidental issue... and doesn't seem like a big hassle to the player, since it's optional... though how much of a hassle it would be to the devs is another issue entirely.
