What Victory points by Dominion means is: The number of provinces x strength of dominion.

So if the Victory by Dominion is set to 100.

You could have 10 Provinces with 10 Dominion, or 20 Provinces with 5 Dominion, or any way to get to 100.

You are allowed to specify the number of victory points on the map and the number of victory points required to win, and wether or not home provinces counts towards victory points. If you play on orania there are a few preset victory point locations. Posessing a province with a victory point in will cause that province to spread dominion like a temple.Victory points are represented by one ore more crowns on the map. Several crowns in a province means that possession of that province will give you the coreesponding number of victory points.

AI doesn't grasp the importance of victory points. You can set victory to a fraction of the total number of provinces, which is probably a better idea to limit the length of SP games.

I think a way to set a quick game is just to set ! VP for each capital and nothing else and to win need to have 3-4 VP ... in tha way the first player to conquer 3-4 other nation capitals is the winner ...

I'm also used to play with Victory condition by province ... setting about 25% of the total province neede to win

I never played with VC on dominions and reserach so I don't know how it works.

good luck

Your dominion score for a province with positive dominion, regardless of whether you own it or not, is 10 + the current dominion level in that province.
