Satilite loophole

Why deploy satellites ? They cost much more than the equivalent damage from mines, and can not be seen to make anybody unhappy !

Satellites have two advantages compared to mines: First if the treaty is broken the satellites will blockade the colony. Second you can destroy the colony with the satellites.
Mines will only affect ships that enter the sector of the colony.

Q are you sure about that blockade ? I seem to recall trying it way back, and the only thing which would blockade was a ship or a moon.....

My policy is not to blow planets since I want the population and facilities, so for me that does not count. Besides that it would have to be a lot of satellites or a poorly defended colony to work.
