1) Use MSConfig to clean out anything else starting in the background

2) Disable any anti-virus during the install of any software

3) Make certain to install the most recent update for Dominions

4) If problems continue uninstall and reinstall into a different directory.

5) Get the most recent drivers for sound and graphics card.

I sometimes have a similar problem. Dominions doesn't come up if my second monitor is disabled. Enabling it solves the problem.
