Default Lifeless units and life draining weapons

Can a lifeless unit like a Golem use a life-draining weapon to restore its fatigue and/or hit points?

Yes. Otherwise they'd be very useless, since it'd be impossible to repair them and thus they would die very quickly. Last thing we need is to make those pretenders even MORE unpopular.

Golems are pretenders now?

And in any case - golems and other lifeless units can be fully repaired in any province with a friendly laboratory. (IE, besieging golem doesn't get the benefit of the lab inside the fortification.)

If that wasn't the case, many of the construction-based (and possibly other) summonings would be almost useless, since they couldn't be healed between battles.

No, but there are certain lifeless pretenders that were intended to be brought to the fore by nerfing the VQ out of existence. Last thing we need is for those to get nerfed out of existence as well.

Lifeless has nothing to do with this - it's the never heals ability that prevents an unit to not get its HPs back at the end of a turn, and Golems do heal like other units, since they haven't never heals. Units that need a lab for repairs have to have both never heals and magic being - eg, Gargoyles.
