help for MP
OK... I'm a complete newbie trying to get my first mp game up and going on that mosehansen server thingy. Can anyone tell me what the values under the game description mean, like does quickhost "1" mean it is set up for automatic 24 hour hosting? Does research "1" signify standard research? What about eventrarity "1" and richness "2"?
Also... in a small digression... can anyone tell me how to get an avatar on this forum?

Re: help for MP
I would recommend, instead of trying to start a game, that instead you wait for one to start and join it. It is less responsibility and just generally easier that way. Games start all the time, usually takes a few days to get them together, but once going they (usually) run (more or less) smoothly.
Or you could go to the IRC channel #dominions on irc.gamesurge.net and wait for a "blitz" game to start, that happens fairly regularly as well. Those are usually games with just a couple of players that are completed in one or two sessions.
Occasionally, newbie-friendly games are created, that might be the best for you so you don't get crushed by experienced players. One just started a couple days ago, unfortunately you missed it.

Re: help for MP
Well, what you really need to do is catch the game when it is still just getting organized. Once the game starts there's no way to add players to it. Although sometimes someone will drop out and need a replacement player, then you can take over for them.
Otherwise just read the forums - when someone starts a game they create a new thread for the purpose and how to join will be discussed there. As long as you sign up before the game has started you'll be welcome.

For an Avatar, go into "My Profile" Located in the top right of the forum and then go to your personal preferences. There is a line that talks about avatars, where you can place your own or choose from the avatar goodness made by David.
