Hey, I was just wondering about "The Sound of Music"
So Capt. Von Trapp was in the Austrian Navy? Except for some beautiful lakes and a major river, Austria is a landlocked country. Did they used to have a port? Hope this doesn't bring up any touchy wartime issues.
Heidi can sure get going down those Alps in her chair!

The way i see it is that It used to have a Port. Then The sea level decreased and the majority of germany was rediscovered, Just ask the Dutch Obviously this never happened but in a film like the sound of music i don't think anyone was keeping track
*Waits for the inevitable reply from our Resident Dutchman Timstone*

Most land-locked European nations maintain a few ships as a navy, which dock at ports of various allies or neutral nations.

Re: OOT: Thread Overflow Depository (AKA: The Hija
'Austria' was not just that little land-locked remnant until recently. It used to be a major European power with several other nations under its control. The city of Venice (now in Italy) was one of their ports, as well as all the cities along the Adriatic coast of Croatia. Even though they were stripped of these holdings after WW I they probably kept their Navy out of a sort of pride/pig-headedness.

Re: OOT: Thread Overflow Depository (AKA: The Hija
Thanks Baron. I kinda suspected it, but was a little unsure about it. Like Bolivia use to have a port until Peru? I think invaded a little strip of land. Bolivia still has a Navy though...on a lake!
Gandalf, try adult diapers and you wouldn't even have to get up to go to the bathroom. I threatened my wife to do that Last superbowl so I wouldn't have to leave the couch.
I thought rigging up a tap line to my mouth from a keg would be even more efficent. My wife threatened to strangle me with it like Princess Lei did with Jabba. Hey I'll buy her the outfit!
