I have some abnormal sizes in my .tga's and the game doesnt mind, things like 40X32 or 45X37 are completely acceptable,

It works because they get stretched to something like 64x64 when they are loaded into Dominions. The brawback is that they will look quite fuzzy. Avoid this by putting them in a properly sized image.
