Seige Question
Ok I have 70 Abysia HI, 28 Devils and 12 mages, and it keeps saying walls unharmed. It is only a Castle and the defender is C'Tis AI.
Does anyone have an idea about how this can be happening. It has been going on for 10 turns. Maybe there is the contruction spell that fixes walls but he has no other territorys so Earth gems would be gone.

Re: Seige Question
C'tis could have a lot of city guards that have the castle defence abilty ... and usually the AI build a lot of otherwise uslesse cheap militia and light infantry that could help in defending a castle ...
long live to the Lizards!
good play

Re: Seige Question
I've experienced the same results for some of my sieges as well. Once I had 6 siege golems, 50 fiends of darkness, 2 demonlords and about 100 other troop types... yet would get the same message. This was also a castle owned by C'Tis.
"the walls were unharmed" ?

Re: Seige Question
C'tis could have a pile of undead. While mindless undead don't defend castles very well, one can accumulate large quantities and you can't starve them out.
Try bringing in Wall Shakers and Gate Cleavers to help.

Re: Seige Question
Ah, so what is being said is numbers behind the walls make it so you can't harm the walls. I was not aware that it had any effect.

Re: Seige Question
I've had the same thing with AI playing Ermor: Last turn I played he had 1060 units guarding his stupid castle, and my Knights of Avalon dealt no damage. What's the deal with Ermor, anyway? Don't undead take any upkeep at all? How am I supposed to beat them if I can't starve them out nor bust down the castle? Ah well, there are more immediate illithid concerns at the moment...

No.

Magic, or eliminating the pretender via loss of his dominion. Neither of these is simple or easy.

Re: Seige Question
I find it hard to believe that 1060 units would inflict absolutely no damage on a castle. Mindless units count 1/10th normal defending against a seige, I think, so Ermor would need to have something like 10,600 men in there to keep the walls repaired. I suspect that the AI would attack you if it had a force that large.
I could be wrong, but my impression is that the only troops that count for seiging a castle are those that have their orders set to Seige. Troops under a commander who is patroling or site searching or defending do not count. Maybe this is why wolfkinsov and others are running into problems.

Re: Seige Question
Not all Ermorian troops are mindless. Soulgate spectral troops and shades are all capable of defending fortresses for example.
