Re: OT; The Volucano Stirs
Since so many people here seem to be constantly Online, you can watch for signs of eruption yourself at the government supplied webcam:

Re: OT; The Volucano Stirs
It has, indeed, begun a steam eruption. My local TV channel website has a video posted that I can't view at work, but HERE is a link to it. Kinda makes me glad to be back in California where earthquakes are our biggest threat.

Gandalph, it must be a big newsday, because I didn't see any reference to Mt. St. Helens on the front page of that website. I'm looking at Atrocities' link. I hate listening to talk radio at work, and then not being able to watch the news when I get home. That's what happened on 9-11. I hate to wait until that evening before I actually saw the devestation. Hopefully for you guys who live in the area, it won't be a big eruption. I don't think anything can match what happened in 1980, but then again, lightning has actually been known to strike the same place twice. So God speed and good luck.

That Mount St. Helens webcam looks like just a screen full of static...

Re: OT; The Volucano Stirs
Fear not, the eruption today from our POV looked more like a could floating over the moutain than an eruption. I am on the south east side of the moutain and unless it blows HUGE, it will just look like a small eruption to us.
Although we did get a light, very light, dusting of ash. It has been over twenty years seens we have seen ash fall from the sky. I can remember the ash after an erutption, being so thick it was breaking branches off of trees because it stuck to the leaves like snow.

Hmmmm...It looks like you bought into the hype in this post, AT. A few other Posts also showed you were hoping it would not blow like it did in '80, so that shows you thought there was a chance it could blow.
Also there hasn't been any activity of this sort at the mountain in quite some time. If these small eruptions were normal I am sure they would not have made it the center of news for a few days.

I didn't say they never exaggerate stories or make things up...They do that quite often. But there has been no activity of this sort, on this particular mountain, since either the late 80s or early 90s.
