Re: SE RPG community dying *sigh*
I think Taera means RPG in larger scale. There used to be a lot of Role Play were people wrote tens of pages in forums. Nowadays I've seen only little compared to that. The Judj-Hadrian thing has been around since SE3 so I don't know a lot about it.

I, too, intend to be a pure role-player; I'm less interested in winning the game than I am in telling the stories of my people.
Of course, I haven't actually _played_ yet; I'll be joining my first PBW game in a day or two.

Re: SE RPG community dying *sigh*
I enjoy roleplaying my races, too, but my Favorites, the Tiktsin, are too pacifistic to be competitive in a game against human players. My Rrurrr are combative enough for PBW, but my lack of experience is getting them crushed in Geo's tourney.

I'll probably RP in my PBW games, but the race I'm using right now has a rather..non helpful.. attituide. Kind of a "go away or we'll BLOW you away" deal

Re: SE RPG community dying *sigh*
My race, the Irha-Nrr, are a little _too_ helpful at times I think. A while back under the thread "Game Stories" I posted a chronicle of the game in which I developed their personalities, and they turned out to be militant pacificsts; they want all the fighting between empires to stop, and are willing to destroy every starship in the galaxy if that's what it takes.
A new race I've started fiddling with are serene sun-worshipping flowers; their personalities are unformed at this point but considering how the Irha-Nrr turned out I'm expecting them to declare jihad and start feeding enemy populations into black holes at any moment.

"serene sun-worshipping flowers" I like it. In my oldest game I'm playing a race of berserker bunny rabbits. Cute, fluffy and deadly.
But I haven't seen much interest in going along with that sort of role playing so I've toned it down and just try to make deals. Well actually not that many deals. Mostly war.

Re: SE RPG community dying *sigh*
I hope this community is not dying.
It was the discovery of Runesword I which led me to Schrapnel Games and thus Space Empires IV.
Having mentioned Space Empires IV to my friends who used to play Ascendancy and Master of Orion 2. Their interest has sparked, due to the fact that this game is so good. I'm hoping that they will join the SEIV community and actively contribute.
What I would like to do is design/alter a race to become one of the factions in a science fantasy milieu of my own creation.
Humanity had left it's cradle with the aid of sleeper colony ships. An age later a strange discovery enabled mankind to travel faster than light, the age of the Magi had begun. A Utopian society was the result...at least on appearances. Several factions involved in a quiet war, with the hidden immortal founders of this society attempting to heal the diverse problems found within.
Ideas for a magical technology-
Eldritch BLasters, Materia primi Cannons,Warp Storm Fetish.
Arcane Aegis, Arcane Ward.
new drive technology- Subspace/Underworld
